The Age of Your iPad Matters
Occasionally, SilverBullet users with Apple iPads report issues with its operation. This is due to a variety of issues that are completely out of our control, but we are happy to help you resolve them when we can.
Please follow this guide to determine the AGE and iOS version of your iPad before reaching out to our support team for assistance.
Step 1: Check the iOS Version
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap General.
- Tap About.
- Look for Software Version – this is the current iOS version.
Step 2: Identify the iPad Model
- In the same About screen, look for Model Name and Model Number.
- Tap the Model Number once to see the actual model code (it starts with an “A”, like **A1893**).
Step 3: Use the Model Number to Determine Age
- Take that model number (e.g., A1893) and cross-reference it with this quick guide:

Pro Tip
If you're troubleshooting app issues, also check:
- Available storage (Settings > General > iPad Storage)
- Battery Health (Settings > Battery)
- Safari/Chrome settings (to check for restrictions or content blockers)
iPad Release History
The Apple iPad was first released in 2010 and many versions have come out since then. It is not unusual for people to use their iPad for several years before having to upgrade it.
Many older (discontinued) iPads are still available for purchase at steep discounts. However, these old models may not be compatible with the latest iOS updates, making them useless when your application requires a more current version of the operating system.
Google Chrome Browser
The latest version of Google Chrome on iPad currently requires iPadOS 17.0 or later. If you're using an iPad that can't update to iPadOS 17 (like the iPad mini 4, iPad Air 2, or older), you won't be able to install or update to the latest Google Chrome version.
iPadOS Operating Systems
This table shows the iPadOS that was shipped with each iPad system since 2011. The iPads shipped with an iPadOS version less than 17.0 have been highlighted in red.
If your iPad contained an iPadOS of less than 17.0 and it cannot be updated to the latest version, it's time to invest in a new iPad to use Google Chrome and, ultimately, SilverBullet
